Meet Helena
I'm Helena de Aguiar Schnaider, a Vancouver-based graphic designer specializing in branding, art direction and creative strategy. What started as a fascination with how things look eventually became an obsession with why they work, and that shift is what drives everything I do today.
My background is multidisciplinary by design, not by accident. Moving across branding, editorial, packaging, and campaign work has given me a way of thinking that connects dots most single-discipline designers miss.
I love the moment a concept clicks, the satisfaction of getting the typography just right, and the feeling of handing something over and knowing it's exactly what it needed to be.
A Little Backstory
I was born in Santa Catarina, Brazil, where I spent most of my childhood with coloured pencils in hand and a dad who happened to be the greatest graphic designer I know. Design was just always there, part of how I saw the world.
I taught myself the Adobe Suite softwares during the pandemic, landed my first freelance clients, and eventually packed up and moved to Vancouver in 2022. Studying at Langara's Design Formation program, volunteering with RGD, attending events through Descan, and getting to be around genuinely talented, creative people has pushed me further than I expected. Every conversation, critique, and collaboration has added so much value to my journey and helped build the professional I am today.
